Stephen has been a sessional faculty member at UBC, Assistant Conductor of the University Singers and of the Vancouver Bach Choir, Director of the male-voice ensemble "Synergy." He currently is the accompanist for Elektra Women's Choir and Resident Accompanist of the Vancouver Men's Chorus. Stephen is also a published composer and arranger of choral music, with a long and growing list of commissions from such entities as the CBC, the National Youth Choir of Canada, the Vancouver Chamber Choir, and, most recently, the Women's Commission Consortium of the ACDA.

Choral music on his iPod's "most listened to" list includes: Idenstam's arr. of Staff Halling, Bach Cantatas BWV 50 & 80, the Glee Cast version of Teenage Dream,  Michael Torke's Book of Proverbs, Alice Parker's Sacred Symphonies, Brahms' Geistliche Lied, and the March of the Peers from Iolanthe!
