Kate began her music career at the ripe age of 5, playing a little cardboard violin made out of a cereal box. She soon graduated to a real violin, later the viola, and ended up studying viola performance at the UBC School of Music. Singing all along the way, she became passionate about choral music's unique ability to facilitate accessible music-making for all voices. Currently she is co-founder and musical director of the queer and trans* centred Femme City Choir, a member of local glitter-pop band Top Less Gay Love Tekno Party, and sings a cappella with the Hot Teas, among other creative projects. She devotes her non-musical time to education, teaching communication skills to college students at SFU.
She is so jazzed to be collaborating with the wonderful musicians of Cor Flammae and to be celebrating the intersections of music and queerness!
