Cor Flammae has a unique conducting model in that we collaborate with a different Guest Conductor each summer season. Cor Flammae works with our conductors to utilize their specific strengths and skills for a mutually beneficial arrangement.
Cor Flammae's season includes roughly twelve musical services with dates to be mutually agreed upon. Conductor will work with the managing director of the choir to plan the schedule and programme for the season. Cor Flammae's (elaborate) photo shoot is held in the spring, as is our annual fundraiser, Dandy Operandi. Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings, 7-9:30pm, with an additional Saturday “retreat” and a dress rehearsal preceding the official season concert(s), held mid-to-late July.
The conductor will be supported by Cor Flammae's permanent auxiliary conductor, the managing director and the creative team.
Guest Conductor expectations:
It is understood that the conductor will participate in other musical activities that will not interfere with the previously arranged activities of Cor Flammae.
Cor Flammae uses inclusive language during rehearsals, and we refer to choristers as a group by section name rather than gender.
